Cervical Cancer Screening

Pap Smear, HPV Testing & Prevention

Cervical Cancer Is Almost Entirely Preventable

Cervical Cancer Is The Second Most Common Cancer In Indian Women, And It Is One Of The Leading Causes Of Cancer-Related Mortality In Women In The Developing World. And Yet, From A Medical Perspective, It Is One Of The Most Preventable Cancers Known.

Virtually All Cervical Cancers Are Caused By Persistent Infection With Specific Strains Of The Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The Pap Smear Test Has Been One Of The Most Successful Cancer Screening Programmes In History.

Available Screening Tests

Pap Smear Test

Involves collecting a small sample of cells from the cervix to examine for abnormal changes. Low-grade changes often resolve naturally, while high-grade changes require precise intervention.

HPV Testing

Identifies high-risk HPV strains directly. Co-testing—simultaneous Pap smear and HPV testing—provides maximum sensitivity for detecting abnormalities early.

Colposcopy

An outpatient procedure examining the cervix under magnification. Indicated when tests show abnormal results, allowing for precise biopsy and histological confirmation.

LEEP & Cone Biopsy

Uses a thin wire loop with electrical current to excise abnormal tissue confirmed as CIN 2 or 3. It is the global standard for treating precancerous cervical lesions.

Technical Excellence

Advanced Cytology & HPV Analysis

By utilizing the most advanced testing protocols—including co-testing and liquid-based cytology—we ensure that even the most subtle changes are identified early. Our goal is to provide a definitive clinical picture that allows for non-invasive treatment long before cancer develops.

HPV Vaccination & Prevention

The HPV vaccines — available in bivalent, quadrivalent, and nonavalent formulations — protect against the high-risk strains responsible for the majority of cervical cancers. Vaccination is most effective when given before first sexual exposure, recommended in India for girls aged 9 to 26.

While vaccination substantially reduces the risk of precancerous changes, it does not eliminate the need for regular screening, as it does not protect against every possible HPV strain. Timely screening remains a critical component of lifelong health.
