Your Patient Journey

From First Call To Positive Result

The First Step To Parenthood

The hardest part of seeking help for infertility or any gynaecological concern is often the decision to pick up the phone. Everything after that — the appointments, the investigations, the consultations, the treatment — has been navigated thousands of times by people who felt exactly as uncertain and apprehensive as you do now. The clinic team is experienced at making the process as clear, supportive, and manageable as possible.

Your first step is simply to contact the clinic: call +91 7045947047 or send a WhatsApp message to +91 98200 67318. The team will ask a few brief questions about your situation, confirm your preferred location (Dombivli or Kalyan-Fortis), and arrange your first appointment with Dr. Krishnakumar.

What To Bring To Your First Appointment

Please bring all available previous medical reports to your first appointment. These include any blood test results from the past two years, any previous ultrasound reports, any previous semen analysis reports, any previous IVF or IUI cycle summaries and embryology reports, and any surgical reports from previous procedures.

If you have been seen by other specialists, a summary of what was found and what was recommended is helpful. Both partners are encouraged and welcome to attend the first consultation together — Dr. Krishnakumar routinely meets with both partners and addresses questions from each.

Preparation Tip

It is helpful to prepare a list of your questions in advance. There are no foolish questions. There is no question that is too basic or too complicated. Dr. Krishnakumar will address every question you have at the consultation. He does not rush consultations — every new patient receives a minimum of forty-five minutes of his personal attention.

The First Consultation – What Happens

At the first consultation, Dr. Krishnakumar takes a detailed history from both partners: the duration of trying to conceive, the regularity of the menstrual cycle, any previous pregnancies or pregnancy losses, any gynaecological or medical conditions or surgeries, family history of relevant conditions, and lifestyle factors. He reviews all previous reports in detail. He performs or arranges a clinical examination as appropriate.

At the end of the consultation, he explains his clinical impression clearly: what he thinks is happening, what he is not yet certain of, what additional investigations are needed, what the treatment options are likely to be, and what the realistic prospects are. He speaks plainly and honestly, because he believes that informed patients make better decisions, cope better with uncertainty, and have better treatment outcomes.

Investigation Phase

Following the first consultation, Dr. Krishnakumar outlines the specific investigations required for each partner. Most investigations can be arranged through the clinic’s in-house facilities or partner laboratories. The clinic team provides clear instructions for each investigation — including when in the menstrual cycle certain blood tests should be done, what preparation is needed for an ultrasound scan, and what the collection requirements are for a semen analysis.

The Diagnostic Plan

Once all investigations are complete, a diagnostic consultation is scheduled with both partners. This is typically the most important consultation in the entire process — the one at which the investigation results are reviewed and explained, a clear diagnosis is reached, and the treatment plan is presented. Both partners receive a clear summary of what has been found, what it means, and what the recommended treatment is.

During Treatment & The Path Forward

During the active treatment phase — whether IUI, IVF, surgical preparation, or medical management — the clinic team maintains close contact with the patient. Monitoring scans and blood results during IVF stimulation are reviewed by Dr. Krishnakumar personally. Protocol adjustments are made promptly based on the patient’s response. Questions are answered promptly — during clinic hours by phone, or by WhatsApp.

After Treatment — The Result

If the result is positive, the clinic provides clear guidance on early pregnancy monitoring. The first ultrasound scan to confirm intrauterine pregnancy and a heartbeat is typically performed at 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy. Once the pregnancy is confirmed as viable and developing normally, ongoing antenatal care is discussed and arranged.

If the result is negative, Dr. Krishnakumar conducts a debrief consultation to review the cycle in detail, identify any factors that might have contributed to the negative result, and discuss the options and recommended plan for a subsequent cycle. A negative result from one IVF cycle is not the end. It is information. And information, in the right hands, drives the next, better plan.
